Guidelines on Drinking Water Distribution Systems Best Practices

The MELCCFP is providing Guidelines on Drinking Water Distribution Systems Best Practices (French, PDF, 1,77 KB) to promote the implementation of these best practices by water utilities in drinking water distribution systems. This could result in a number of benefits, including:

  • Better stability of the quality and quantity of drinking water distributed;
  • Better protection of the population’s health linked to drinking water in addition to ensuring the safety of workers;
  • Better management of assets and work performed on the distribution system;
  • Better internal organization and improved performance of staff assigned to the distribution system;
  • Improved compliance with government requirements (Regulation respecting the quality of drinking water, Québec Water Efficiency Strategy);
  • Improved relations between those in charge of the waterworks and their end users (transparency, better communication, etc.).

An update has been published in 2023 to add new sections and to update a few existing ones.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions pertaining to this guide, we encourage you to send them by email so that we can make the necessary adjustments.
